9 Ways to trick yourself into being socially active

  1. Buy your fabulous graduation, birthday, and thank-you cards from Cards by Bo. (They'll also be 100% post-consumer recycled)
  2. Decorate using Branch home decor... it's inspired, as well as ecofriendly.
  3. Use your lunchbreak to listen to this engaging audio presentation... The coolest thing I've heard in a long time. An NPR station-produced program regarding "Peace, War and Indifference", using influential speeches and fantastic music. Worth the full hour of your time, no doubt about it.
  4. Instead of wasting time reading Facebook status updates, read one sentence life stories instead.
  5. Buy a few summer staples (or maybe even some unnecessary splurges?) on Goodwill's auction site.
  6. Stop shopping at Walmart. (trust me on this one.)
  7. Have a movie night. Watch Michael Moore's documentary Sicko, and browse the healthcare reform site. For bonus points, do this one with an open mind.
  8. Shop in healthy, renewable, socially responsible ways. You'll need to check out this wonderful ranking site as you choose your Walmart alternatives (see number 6)
  9. Set your alarm to play your local NPR station in the morning. The world is bigger than your neighborhood, state, and nation. Learn about it, care about it.
