- Buy your fabulous graduation, birthday, and thank-you cards from Cards by Bo. (They'll also be 100% post-consumer recycled)
- Decorate using Branch home decor... it's inspired, as well as ecofriendly.
- Use your lunchbreak to listen to this engaging audio presentation... The coolest thing I've heard in a long time. An NPR station-produced program regarding "Peace, War and Indifference", using influential speeches and fantastic music. Worth the full hour of your time, no doubt about it.
- Instead of wasting time reading Facebook status updates, read one sentence life stories instead.
- Buy a few summer staples (or maybe even some unnecessary splurges?) on Goodwill's auction site.
- Stop shopping at Walmart. (trust me on this one.)
- Have a movie night. Watch Michael Moore's documentary Sicko, and browse the healthcare reform site. For bonus points, do this one with an open mind.
- Shop in healthy, renewable, socially responsible ways. You'll need to check out this wonderful ranking site as you choose your Walmart alternatives (see number 6)
- Set your alarm to play your local NPR station in the morning. The world is bigger than your neighborhood, state, and nation. Learn about it, care about it.
